Let's get ready to POWER UP! Once again, our wonderful sponsor Bosch graciously allowed us to use their cafeteria and other supplies for our kickoff event on Saturday, January 6th. The team arrived at 9:00am and participated in fun team bonding activities, while gaining background information on FIRST, FRC Competitions and the Hackbot Design/Strategy Brainstorming Process. (loosely based on the Deep Dive and PLTW brainstorming strategies) Next, after the video was shown, the Hackbots dove into trying to figure out how to score the most points. Through both group and partner brainstorming sessions, each student left the kickoff excited to start designing and building in the weeks to follow.

The Hackbots won their 6 qualifying matches. Spirits were high and the energy in the audience was extremely positive. The team cheered, danced, and helped other teams, making sure to show gracious professionalism throughout the day. The team placed second in qualifiers and was the 2nd alliance captain with Adambots (245), Foley Freeze (910), and Rat Pack (830). Unfortunately, the team lost in the quarter-finals. However the girls competition was a great learning experience for all. GO LADY HACKBOTS!!!

Team 3414's season has officially come to an end. As a team, this is the furthest we have ever reached, making the quarterfinals at Worlds on the Tesla field. Our competition season started with a whimper at Howell (week 5), where we placed 32nd with a 4-7-1 record. In addition, we won the Industrial Safety Award. We roared back at Livonia, taking the competition as the 4th alliance captain. After a harrowing final match with the Megatron Oracles (314) and Knight Vision (3175), we were champions, winning by just a point (306 to 305). In addition, we got After our success at Livonia we were able to progress to the State Championship at Saginaw State University, where we were a part of the Consumers Energy Field, making it to the semifinals as part of the number 2 alliance (862 Lightning Robotics and 1023 Bedford Express). For a second time, we won the Spirit Award, and were able to proceed to Worlds! At Worlds, we were chosen as a backup robot for the 2nd alliance (829 - Digital Goats, 1519 - Mechanical Mayhem, 191 - X-CATS). As part of their alliance, we made it to the Quarter Finals on the Tesla Field. When the alliance got eliminated, it marked the end of an illustrious season for our team. As soon as the team returned, leadership got together with the team for a successful lessons learned meeting and began planning the summer outreach events. Check our calendar for more info!
